Quakertown Borough sponsors a summer recreational camp for children ages 7—12 from June-August known as K.I.D.S.— Kids Involved Doing Something.
Every year we come up with exciting ways to expand our camp to make it BIGGER and BETTER than ever! The K.I.D.S. Camp is held from Monday – Friday 9am – 3:30pm for children ages 7-12!
K.I.D.S. was started by former Quakertown Community School District physical education teacher, Jane Stover. The program was initiated for the children of the community to have a safe, creative and entertaining summer experience. We are very proud that our program was once featured in National Geographic’s World Magazine!
Our counselors are former program participants who have grown up with the K.I.D.S. Camp. They volunteer to participate in our Counselor-in-Training (CITs) program, and after completing the training program they may be hired as a counselor. By having children grow up in the program and move into the program as counselors, it gives them a unique opportunity to make the program their own and one of a kind.
The imagination of our counselors and the enthusiasm of the children is what keeps our camp going strong. Children have the opportunity to participate in all types of events; crafts, board games, outdoor games, special themes, and paper & box mazes!! It’s a complete summer of fun, and we would love for you to be a part of it. Each day has a special theme. Often the counselors will dress up as characters that the children are familiar with. Special games are played, skits are acted out, and children are invited through very cool mazes!!!
Registration– Registration is available online on April 2. Camp registration is based on a first come basis, with Borough of Quakertown residents receiving priority. Spaces are limited, so register early!
Participants are registered by individual weeks. There is a space designated on the front page of the registration form to indicate which week your child(ren) will be participating. Please do not register your child if there are weeks you know you will be on vacation, away, or unable to attend. If you register your child(ren) for a week of camp and they do not attend that week or any days during that week (without prior notice), your child(ren) will be removed from any remaining weeks of camp in which they are registered.
Camp check-in runs from 9:00am to 9:30am and check-out runs from 3:00pm to 3:30pm. Each week the field trip will be offered to a different age group, so please be sure to check that your child is eligible for that week's trip. That information can also be found in the Camp Handbook located on the Borough website. Trip registration will be available the week prior to the trip date and must be submitted and paid for in person at Borough Hall the Monday before the trip. Spaces for each trip are limited and are filled on a first come-first serve basis.
The information for this camp is listed below. If you have any questions, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 215.536.5001 x136. Spaces are limited and do fill up quickly.
